Marshall,' one page, 7 x 9, War Department, Office of the Chief of Staff, Washington letterhead, June 22, 1939. In part: 'I returned to the office for the first time since my departure for Brazil on May 10th. I will not delay in acknowledging your note of June 12th, together with the booklet on the restoration of Fire Island, and the postcards. I am going to get a great deal of pleasure out of looking them over. If I am lucky, I will fly up to Mitchel Field from Langley Field on Saturday and change over to an amphibian plane and try to reach the Island without delay.
