Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna

Mexican general and politician. Santa Anna is one of the most interesting figures in Mexican political history, having been president - dictator of Mexico some ten times during his career. He is best known in the US for his slaughter of many Americans at the Alamo. LS in Spanish, signed 'A. L. de Sta Anna,' one page, 5 x 5.25, May 29, 1866. Santa Anna complies with an autograph request. In full, 'I am happy to send you the autograph you requested in your letter of the 23rd. I take this opportunity of signing myself faithfully.' Attractively cloth matted and framed by the Gallery of History, with a portrait of Santa Anna, a full translation and a small name plaque, to an overall size of 25.5 x 19. In fine condition, with a touch of light soiling and two mailing folds, neither affecting nice signature. COA John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA. Oversized.
