Vintage 6.5 x 5 photo of Orville Wright and W. K. Vanderbilt preparing to take off, neatly signed in fountain pen on the mount, 'Orville Wright,' for an overall size of 9 x 7. Caption affixed below the photo reads, 'W. K. Vanderbilt taking a flight with Orville Wright in 1910.' Vanderbilt was an accomplished sailor and yachtsman. In 1904, Willie K. sponsored the first Vanderbilt Cup Race [for motor cars] at Long Island. Later he and a group of men formed the Long Island Motor Parkway Corporation and built one of the country's first modern paved parkways.
