Knox,' one page, 8 x 9.25, November 16, 1785. Letter written from the War Office concerning a financial matter. In part, 'I received your favor...covering an abstract of substinence for the office of Colonel Henry Jackson's regiment. I now return the same and inform you the account will be settled at the pay office...This matter must be accomplished before the first of next August or it will forever be excluded.' Letter is affixed to a slightly larger sheet. In very good condition, with several separations along mailing folds, one affecting portion of signature, light toning and some scattered edge wear.
