Description

He was active in the Rhode Island Sons of Liberty, and was sent to the Continental Congress in 1776 to replace Samuel Ward, who had died. He was immediately appointed to the Marine committee and later participated in several others including the committee for foreign relations. DS, signed 'William Ellery C. L. O.,' one page, 15 x 3.25, no date. Document concerning interest due on a loan to William Burgess on behalf of the Loan Office. Fourteen column document lists two names, amount of loan certificates, interest due and other pertinent information. Signed at the bottom in black ink by Ellery. In very good condition, with scattered toning, a bit heavier at edges, several vertical folds, one through a letter of signature and a bit of light soiling. RRAuction COA.
