Description

DS, one page, 7.25 x 9.5, August 4, 1790. Document signed as Governor of Massachusetts, Hancock appoints Samuel Barrett as a Justice of the Peace for Suffolk County. Boldly signed in black ink on the left side by Hancock, under the seal and countersigned by Secretary John Avery. In very good condition, with scattered light staining and spotting, light mounting remnants to reverse, a couple small holes, worn but intact seal and expected folds, none detracting from Hancock's strong signature. COA John Reznikoff/University Archives and RRAuction COA.
