Description

Jimi Hendrix authorizes a salary and bonus to fellow Band of Gypsys member Billy Cox

TLS, one page, 8.5 x 11, Michael Jeffrey Management, Inc. letterhead, January 15, 1970. Hendrix authorizes a payment. In full, 'This letter will serve as authorization to pay to Billy Cox all salary and expenses to date plus 1 week salary in lieu of notice and also 1,000.00 as a bonus for his services.' Billy Cox on bass, along with Buddy Miles on drums, were part of a Jimi Hendrix amalgamation called Band Of Gypsies, who recorded a live album at the Fillmore East on New Years Eve. From the date of this letter, this payment authorized by Hendrix, could possibly be for that performance and album participation. In very good condition, with a horizontal mailing fold affecting the tops of a few letters of signature, some staining and thinning of paper to lower left, show through from ink notation on reverse and a couple small rust spots, none detracting from signature. COA Roger Epperson and RRAuction COA.
