Very nice handwritten poem on a 6.5 x 5 off white sheet, dated May 2, 1870. In full, 'There's freedom at thy gates and rest, For earth's down trodden and oppressed, A shelter for the hunted head, For the starved laborer food and bread. Power, at thy bounds, Stops, and calls back his baffle hounds.' Signed 'William Cullen Bryant.' In fine condition, with a couple light spots, not affecting text. RRAuction COA.
