Born Enea Silvio de' Piccolomini, Pope from 1458-1464. LS in Latin, signed 'E as Cardinal of Siena,' one page, 8 x 7, October 6, 1457. Letter to the city council of Siena recommending them to Alexander Maritus de Oddis de Tuderto, who wishes to serve Siena as 'Podesta' or at least as commander of the city forces. He commends him as a reliable person and currently running the police force of Ancona. In very good condition, with light toning from large repair on reverse, a couple small areas of paper loss along bottom fold, heavy folds and a bit of soiling.
