Poet known for The Song of Hiawatha, Paul Revere's Ride, The Village Blacksmith, etc. ALS signed 'Henry W. Longfellow,' four pages on two adjoining 4.5 x 7 sheets, April 29, 1880. Letter to Mr. Kent. In part, 'I hasten with all speed to thank you for your kind letter and for the 'Corona Catholica,'...But I am troubled by what you say of the other books, sent so long ago...They were both received, and I wrote to you at the time a letter full of thanks...I am truly grieved that this letter never reached you. My only consolation is, that I can thank you again, as I do now most cordially. Equally so for the new book...It is a very curious and interesting volume. I am afraid that I do not care much for the 'Prophecy of St. Malachie' as you do...I have always been interested in such things, and this is a valuable addition to my little store of linguistic curiousities.' In fine condition, with a light shade of toning. COA John Reznikoff/University Archives and RRAuction COA.
