One of South America's greatest generals. His victories over the Spaniards won independence for Bolivia, Panama, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Venezuela.  He is called El Liberator (The Liberator) and the "George Washington of South America." ALS in Spanish, signed 'Bolivar,' one page, 8 x 11.5, September 18, 1825. Letter of recommendation to Col. Galvan. In part, 'Regarding the promotion in military rank for Major Jordan I add my own, along with my personal approval and support, which I believe will be held in some esteem because it is offered by the Commander of the Liberation Army. I beg you, if you can, to as [Nestures] for my silver spurs and a sword that I left with him just two months ago.' Some light toning, heavier to two corners, expected folds, punch holes to left side, small area of paper loss to right side and an office stamp near signature, otherwise fine condition.
