Description

Wilhelm Mauser expresses delight on the successful testing of his new revolver, ?The widely expressed favorable opinions about the revolver were most gratifying for me, and these were satisfactorily confirmed during the testing period.?

German inventor and gunsmith. ALS in German, signed 'Wilh. Mauser,' one page both sides, 4.5 x 7.25, December 23, 1878. Letter to a friend. In part, 'As far as it was possible for a first attempt, I have succeeded in Petersburg as much as I could have wished for and, undoubtedly, the commission for a delivery will follow shortly. The widely expressed favorable opinions about the revolver were most gratifying for me, and these were satisfactorily confirmed during the testing period. I have not been able to discover anything about matters pertaining to the revolver here, and so I am completely in the dark about it and I don't know where I stand. You would oblige me very much if you would clarify this for me.' In fine condition. COA John Reznikoff/University Archives and RRAuction COA.
