ALS, one page both sides, 8.5 x 11, February 9, 1876. Letter to his wife Julia concerning the upcoming birth of another child and the newspaper he has worked for. In part, 'It would be very pleasant to have your mother with us while you are sick, but I don't see how it can be done. I have not the money at present to provide for her transportation from the East...I do not apprehend that you are going to have as serious a time during your confinement in the spring as you had before...We have four reporters in the Jpurnal, and two besides myself on editorial work.' Letter is affixed by its left edge to a larger sheet along with the original mailing envelope, addressed in Field's hand. In fine condition. RRAuction COA.
