Description

Satie sends an invitation

French composer as eccentric in his way of life as in his music, Satie exercised considerable influence over some of his more distinguished contemporaries, including Debussy, Ravel and Poulenc, particularly through his tendency to extreme simplicity. A number of his compositions have become very familiar to many, largely through their use in other contexts. ALS in French, signed 'E S,' one page, 4.25 x 3, May 15, 1916. Letter to a friend. In part, 'Can you come to Austin's tomorrow at 12? Are you able to? I am not able to tell you much (and I am counting on seeing you Sunday). Greetings to Stern.' Satie has also addressed the address panel on reverse. In fine condition, with some light wrinkling. COA John Reznikoff/University Archives and RRAuction COA.
