Description

Mary Miles Minter

Silent screen star whose career suffered a fatal blow in 1922 with the unsolved murder of her sometime director and reputed lover William Desmond Taylor. Following the murder, and the end of her film career in 1923, she lived as a recluse in California, refusing all requests for her autograph. Christmas card, with a color front showing Jesus, Mary and Joseph in a forest, opens to 10 x 7, with a pre-printed Christmas greeting. On the inside cover, Minter has written, 'My sincere wishes go to a faithful and kind man, Mr. George M. Smith, that all of his dreams come true in the challenging year of 1971. Mary Miles Minter.' She adds a postscript thanking him for his cards. In very good condition, with tape repair to total cover separation and a small photo of Minter affixed to cover.
