TLS, one page, 8 x 10.5, Police Department of the City of New York letterhead, March 25, 1896. Roosevelt declines an invitation. In full, 'I thank you heartily for your kind invitation. I wish I could accept, but it is simply out of my power; I have more on my hands now than I can well attend to, and I dare not undertake anything more.' In fine condition, with light overall toning and a light mailing fold through one letter of signature.
