Vellum DS as president, one page, 12.5 x 9.25, December 9, 1817. Monroe grants George Dietz 160 acres of land in Illinois for his previous service in the twenty sixth regiment of the Infantry. Boldly signed by Monroe and counter signed by his Commissioner of the General Land office. Cloth matted and framed to an overall size of 18.5 x 15. In very good condition, with light fading to portion of the writing filled in by a secretary but not to the signature, which is dark, some light toning and soiling, heavy document folds and a worn but intact seal.
