Original five-panel, hand-inked, Mutt and Jeff daily comic strip on 28.5 x 11.25 cardstock, with a stamp date of August 31, 1921. Mutt and Jeff are are working for a rail company with Jeff taking a few baggage loading shortcuts, resulting in a missing bird. Fisher signs once in ink in the strip, a stylized last name only signature, and then writes across the top in pencil, 'Mutt and Jeff - Entitled: 'Short One Bird! - By Bud Fisher.' Matted and framed to an overall size of 33.5 x 13.5. Moderate soiling mostly around top edge, some minor paper loss to three corners and a couple light notations, otherwise fine condition. Oversized.
