Description

Three TLSs, each one page, dated from 1929 to 1940. Includes:

TLS as governor, signed "F.D.R.," State of New York Executive Chamber letterhead, April 5, 1929, to Commander Charles Belknap, in part: "I am delighted to write to Senator Wagner about Todd. It would be a splendid selection for the Radio Board." Includes a retained carbon copy of Belknap's reply.

TLS as president, White House letterhead, April 24, 1939, to John Boettiger of the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, in part: "The enclosed with a note which can be published. I wish I could make the contribution more, and I am delighted that this simple memorial is to be erected to 'J. D.'"

TLS as president, White House letterhead, April 18, 1940, to Senator William H. King, in part: "I have your letter…calling to my attention the qualifications of Mr. Charles A. Root of Salt Lake City, for the position of Interstate Commerce Commissioner to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Mr. Marion M. Caskie. You may be assured that I shall give your recommendation very serious consideration."

In overall fine condition. Accompanied by a program for the 1946 dedication of the home of Franklin D. Roosevelt as a national historic site, a booklet about the home, and an original typed sheet headed "President's Itinerary for Ceremony at Hyde Park, April 12, 1946."
