Two original ashtrays: one marked "Birdland, Jazz Corner of the World, Broadway at 52nd Street," and the other marked "Eddie Condon's." The Birdland ashtray, in particular, is a rare and remarkable piece of historic jazz ephemera. Also includes two programs from the Birdland Jazz Club—one entitled "The Birdland Story of Jazz" and the other entitled "Birdland Stars of 1955"—depicting the likes of Billie Holiday, Dizzy Gillespie, Duke Ellington, Dave Brubeck, Sonny Stitt, Sarah Vaughan, Oscar Peterson, Ella Fitzgerald, Erroll Garner, and Thelonious Monk inside. In overall very good to fine condition, with cover and handling wear to the programs (and old clear tape to one of the spines).
