Description

"Nothing in the world could jeopardize the age-old friendship happily existed between the United States of America and Thailand"

Third and longest serving Prime Minister of Thailand (1897-1964) and dictatorial leader of Thailand from 1938 to 1944 and 1948 to 1957. Two items: a TLS signed "P. Pibulsonggram," one page, 8.5 x 11, Presidency of the Council of Ministers, Bangkok, May 3, 1957, addressed to Ken Browne, in part: "Nothing in the world could jeopardize the age-old friendship happily existed between the United States of America and Thailand. Though there might be some instigations from our oppositions to weaken our firm policy, we never took heed nor being misled to doubt. The more they did the more our genuine cord of friendship still binds closer. I have pleasure in sending my autographed photograph herewith as requested. The size will be suitable for your desk, and I sincerely hope that it will continue to serve my sincere considerations that I have for you and the American people." Included is a satin-finish 3.5 x 5.5 portrait of the Thai prime minister, signed and inscribed on the reverse in fountain pen, "To Mr. Ken Browne, yours sincerely, P. Pibulsonggram, Thailand 1st May 1957." In overall fine condition. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope.
