Graded by PSA NM-MT+ 8.5. Arguably the top rookie card from the 1960s, this card hails from the popular 1968 Topps set. Freshly plucked from a raw collection hidden away for the last 40 years, this card was purchased by our consignor the same day he bought the 1967 Seaver rookie card offered elsewhere in this auction. According to our consignor, he went to card shows in the late 70s and early 80s, back when the dealers used to have 'binders full of Seaver and Ryan rookies.' Being a true blue (and orange) New York Mets fan, he carefully selected the best rookie cards from one of these binders for each of these players he could find, focusing on centering, MINT corners and cards with overall high eye appeal. He selected this Nolan Ryan rookie card, which lay in the same binder in his home for the last four decades, only to be unearthed and presented here at auction for the first time. This is an elite example of the rookie card of one of the top pitchers ever to throw a baseball.
