Marilyn Monroe

Top Sellers

Take a look at an archive of negatives of Marilyn Monroe from the production of Niagara which pulled in over $61,000. Featuring over 200 negatives of the iconic Hollywood starlet, these early photos were captured by Canadian journalist Jock Carroll. The images display the production’s set and scenes of Monroe in costume and studying her script.

These five oversized signed photos of the Wizard of Oz cast are another unique surviving set from Hollywood’s golden age. These portraits feature five key figures from the film including Judy Garland as Dorothy Gale, Ray Bolger as the Scarecrow, Jack Haley as the Tin Man, Bert Lahr as the Cowardly Lion, and Frank Morgan as the Wizard. These photos were autographed and inscribed to Barron Polan. Polan acted as assistant to Mervyn LeRoy who was a producer on the original 1939 film adaptation of the Wizard of Oz. Our writers at RR Auction pride themselves on bringing you the history behind these incredible pieces.

You can also browse more of our highest selling offerings which include the final working draft of Breakfast at Tiffany’s. This particular manuscript, hand annotated by novelist Truman Capote, features Capote’s most important revision to his work in changing his heroine’s name to the now iconic Holly Golightly. A successful sale for our consignor, this breathtaking piece sold for $313,056.

Superstars yield the greatest successes: items associated with Hollywood's enduring icons like Marilyn Monroe, Greta Garbo, Steve McQueen, Elizabeth Taylor, Bruce Lee, and James Dean are among the most popular of any collectible genre. We have offered everything from screen-used items from these Hollywood stars and starlets to personal artifacts that run few-and-far between. In a recent auction, a break-up letter written by Oscar winner Marlon Brando made its way to our auction block and sold for a surprising $10,000. Written in the actor’s early days when he starred on Broadway, this letter revealed a little-known connection to French actress Solange Podell.

We’re always seeking consignments, so if you have pop culture or Hollywood pieces you’d like to sell, give us a call at 800-937-3880 or submit lots below.
