Scarce 7"-diameter cast bronze wall plaque depicting a front facing bust of Edgar Allan Poe dividing the Roman numeral dates of 1809 and 1909. The seal of the Grolier Club is in the middle right field. This is one of only 277 plaques cast for the Grolier Club in 1909 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Poe’s birth. Sculpted by Edith Woodman Burroughs (1871-1916), her full name is incised at the base followed by her initials “R.B.W./ N.Y” on the bottom edge. In fine condition.
