Agreement between Steinbeck and David Merrick for a stage adaptation of the film Viva Zapata!, in which Steinbeck confirms he “is the sole author of the motion picture shooting script concerning the story of the life and activities of Emiliano Zapata…used as the basis for the motion picture entitled ‘Zapata,’ produced by Twentieth Century-Fox Film Corporation.” Signed at the conclusion in ballpoint by Steinbeck as the owner and Merrick as the producer.
