Bold blue pencil endorsement, signed “Trotsky,” across a one-page request in Russian, one page, 8 x 7, dated May 31, 1919, on People’s Commissar of War and Navy Affairs letterhead. Request reads (translated): “Asking your permission to pay the salary of 2000 rubles to the assistant of publisher of the newspaper ‘On the Way’ comrade Solomon Zelbov-Minsky because this position is not established in staff.” Across the text Trotsky writes (translated): “To be satisfied, Trotsky.” In fine condition, with a vertical fold, some light wrinkles, and expected document wear.
