Clipped circular photo of Adam West’s Batman, 5 x 5, once placed inside a space capsule as a pratical joke, originally from the personal collection of Guenter Wendt. Accompanied by a handwritten letter of provenance signed by Wendt, stating “The picture of Batman was placed in Gordon Cooper’s Mercury S/C after he had complained that the instrument panel had no color. ‘Gotcha!’” Although both Cooper’s missions pre-date the publication of this particular photo, this photo may have been used during the Apollo 10 training, for which Cooper served as backup commander. with an elderly Wendt apparently making a simple mistake in his recollection.
