Two items: an official color semi-glossy 8 x 10 full-length photo of Ed Gibson in his white space suit as he prepares to enter the Neutral Buoyancy Space Simulation, signed in black felt tip, “Ed Gibson, Science-Pilot, Skylab III,” with reverse bearing a “Still Caption” stamp and “A Kodak Paper” watermarks; and a scarce color Neutral Buoyancy Space Simulation completion certificate, 12 x 9, October 12, 1973, signed below in black ink, “Ed Gibson, Science Pilot, Skylab III (SL-4). 1214 orbits, 84 days, 3 EVAs.” The certificate reads: “Let it be known throughout the Universe of Worlds that earthling Edward G. Gibson, having completed 28 exercises of Extravehicular Activity in preparation for Skylab EVA’s, and notwithstanding the many inconveniences encountered while in a more or less neutrally buoyant attitude, and in constant conflict with infidelity of mock-up hardware, often called, among other descriptions, as neutrally buoyant peculiar, did finally reach a state of underwater perfection in the performance of Neutrally Buoyant Space Simulations—Therefore, this Certificate is awarded to the above Skylab 4 crewman in honor of his admission into the elite company of those individuals known as the Neutral Buoyancy Space Simulators.” Signed at the conclusion by Test Director Elmer F. Bizarth. The certificate is affixed to a same-size cardstock mount. In overall fine condition.
