Description
French physician, anatomist, and anthropologist (1824-1880) known for his research on the brain; Broca's area, a region of the frontal lobe of the human brain associated with language processing, is named for him. ANS in French, signed “P. Broca,” one page, 5 x 8, April 15, 1872. Printed invitation flyer for a meeting of the "Association Francaise pour L'avancement des Sciences" for the purpose of defining the society's constitution, with a note written at the bottom by Broca to his associate Dr. Azam, in full (translated): "I am quite sure that you will not be here for the Wednesday event. But you could send me, on your behalf and for your two subscribers, a letter informing the president that you approve the by-laws." In very good to fine condition, with light creasing, and two small holes to the upper blank area.
