Description
American jazz trumpeter (1938-1972) who was one of the key hard bop musicians of the 1960s and produced the crossover hit song 'The Sidewinder.' His career was cut short at the age of 33, when his common-law wife shot and killed him following a confrontation at Slug's Saloon. Vintage ballpoint signature, "Lee Morgan,” on an off-white 2.75 x 1.25 slip affixed to a slightly larger sheet. Removably corner-mounted to a display sheet with an image of Morgan playing the trumpet. In very good to fine condition, with creasing and a few light stains.
