Handwritten musical manuscript by Coltrane for the unpublished song "You Came Along," three pages both sides, 13.5 x 10.75, no date. The first page, headed "You Came Along" and marked "Arr by John Coltrane" in the lower corner, is the arrangement for first trumpet; the reverse features a brief piano chord change chart in the key of G, which is a concert key for 'You Came Along.' The second page, headed "You Came Along" on both sides, features shorter band arrangements for the second trumpet part. The third page, untitled, seems to show Coltrane practicing his musical notation, writing eighth notes, sixteenth notes, quarter and eighth note rests, and dotted quarter notes; the reverse features a short passage of seven notes. The first two pages bear later Jowcol Music copyright stamps. In very good to fine condition, with light handling wear and a few small stains. Provenance: Family of John Coltrane, Guernsey's, 2005. A fabulous original manuscript by Coltrane, who is revered as one of the legends of the jazz genre.
