Description

Vintage 8 x 5.75 program for a Charlie Parker concert at Konserthuset Stockholm, Sweden, on November 20,1950, neatly signed on the front page next to his image in black ink by Parker; the back of the program is affixed to the inside back cover of the record set, Metronome Records presents Bop-session with Charlie Parker, which consists of three 78 RPM records, and features six songs from Charlie Parker's All Stars, including: 'Cheryl' / 'Warming Up a Riff,' 'Sipping at Bell's' / 'Parker's Mood,' and 'Barbados' / 'Milestones.' In fine condition, with intersecting folds. The records are included. On November 3, 1950, Parker signed a contract that would fly him to Sweden for a week-long series of shows. Accompanied by Roy Eldridge, Parker landed at Bromma Airport in Stockholm on November 19th, and played several concerts throughout the country during his brief yet very prestigious stay, even traveling to Copenhagen, Denmark to play a show on the 23rd. Although Parker's Swedish trip only lasted until the 28th, his abilities amazed those fortunate to attend his woefully under-advertised concerts. A variety of recordings from Parker's tour of Sweden have appeared over the years.
