Satin-finish 10 x 8 photo of launch pad leader Guenter Wendt holding Ham the chimpanzee, signed in black felt tip, “‘Ham,’ America’s first chimp in space, Guenter F. Wendt, Pad leader.” In fine condition. Named after the Holloman Aerospace Medical Center, Ham was an integral member of the Mercury-Redstone 2 mission, a sixteen-minute suborbital test flight that launched from Cape Canaveral on January 31, 1961.
