Limited edition 29 x 23 lithograph entitled ‘Menage a Trois,’ from the bag One series, numbered 198/300, signed in the lower right corner in pencil, “John Lennon.” In very good condition, with scattered areas of toning over most of the litho, scattered creases from having been previously rolled, and mild wrinkling. In 1969, as a wedding gift for Yoko, John drew the ‘Bag One Portfolio’—a chronicle of their wedding ceremony, honeymoon, and their plea for world peace in the Bed-In. The suite also contained several erotic sketches. “The Bag One” series was first published and exhibited in January 1970 at the London Art Gallery. On the second day the exhibition was closed by Scotland Yard and the erotic lithographs confiscated. The complete set of Bag One lithographs is on permanent display at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Provenance: Bonhams, 2011. Pre-certified Roger Epperson/REAL and RR Auction COA.
