Patch measures four inches in diameter and shows the shuttle launching into orbit, with the crew names around the outside. Patch is matted and framed to an overall size of 16.75 x 20, with a color photo of the shuttle’s liftoff, a brief inscription written above the photo, and an informational caption, signed by astronaut Dale Gardner, which reads, “This STS-8 crew patch flew on board the Space Shuttle Challenger with me from launch on August 30, 1983 to landing on September 5, 1983.
