#2291 - Lynyrd Skynyrd Signed Hat Estimate: $4,000+

Vintage Skynyrd cap signed by the full band days before their tragic plane crash
Awesome red-and-white circa 1977 Lynyrd Skynyrd trucker snapback cap with foam crown featuring ‘bone-style’ band logo and red-eyed skull, signed on the brim in black ballpoint by Ronnie Van Zant, Allen Collins, Billy Powell, Gary Rossington, Artimus Pyle, Steve Gaines, and Leon Wilkeson. Includes a protective case. In fine condition, with the signatures a bit light, but legible. Accompanied by a glossy 8 x 10 photo featuring four images taken on the day of the signing, as well as a full letter of authenticity from JSA.

Consignor notes that the cap was autographed at a meet-and-greet in Altamonte Springs, Florida, on October 17, 1977, the release day of the band’s fifth album, Street Survivors, and just three days before Lynyrd Skynyrd’s ill-fated flight bound for Baton Rouge, Louisiana; the resulting crash took the lives of Ronnie Van Zant, Steve and Cassie Gaines, assistant road manager Dean Kilpatrick, and pilots Walter McCreary and William Gray. An altogether incredible and highly displayable cap signed by the entire band just days before their tragic, career-altering flight—a true rock and roll rarity.
