#216 - Rutherford B. Hayes Estimate: $300+

Partly-printed DS as president, signed “R. B. Hayes,” one page, 18.5 x 13.5, April 18, 1878. President Hayes appoints Boyd H. McEckron of Kansas "to be Register of the land office at Concordia, Kansas." Crisply signed at the conclusion by President Hayes and countersigned by Secretary of the Interior Carl Schurz. Double-matted and framed to an overall size of 24.5 x 19. In fine condition. Hayes documents countersigned by Schurz, who had served as a Union general in the Civil War, are quite uncommon.
