Inventor, writer, editor, and magazine publisher (1884-1967) who is best known for publications including the first science fiction magazine. His contributions to the genre as publisher were so significant that, along with the novelists H. G. Wells and Jules Verne, he is sometimes called ‘The Father of Science Fiction.’ In his honor, annual awards presented at the World Science Fiction Convention are named the ‘Hugos.’ Early vintage glossy 8 x 10 Bachrach portrait photo of a young Hugo Gernsback, signed in fountain pen, "Cordially yours, H. Gernsback." In fine condition. Gernsback remains rare across all signed formats, with this being our first autographed photograph.
