Description

(Walt Disney Studios, 1955) Exceptional original key master background set-up from 'The Ugly Duckling' segment of the Disneyland TV Show episode, 'From Aesop to Hans Christian Andersen,' specially matted by the Studio Art Props Department, signed on the original mat in crayon by Walt Disney, with the encircled Walt Disney Productions “WDP” stamped above and the faded cel title to left side. Accomplished in gouache on 13.5 x 11.5 artist paper, the scene shows a decidedly bored mother duck seated on her nest, which she has built at the base of a hollow tree trunk surrounded by mushrooms. Matted to an overall size of 19.5 x 18.5. In fine condition, with some toning and wear to mat edges, which could be easily matted over and framed if so desired.

One of the most popular episodes from Disneyland's first season, 'From Aesop to Hans Christian Andersen' offers choice clips of past Disney cartoon shorts, based on famous fables, written by Aesop, La Fontaine, the Brothers Grimm, and Hans Christian Andersen. Excerpts include complete showings of The Tortoise and the Hare, The Country Cousin, The Ugly Duckling, and the Mickey Mouse short Brave Little Tailor, plus an excerpt of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
