Esteemed actor Richard Widmark starred as Dr. Emmett Taulbee in the film adaptation of Elmore Leonard's 1969 novel The Moonshine War. The film costarred Patrick McGoohan and Alan Alda and was released in 1970. Widmark never appeared in any other films adapted from a Leonard work and, as such, the pair never did "meet later on." Books signed by their author and presented to a well-known actor from its adaptation are quite rare and desirable.
