Early hand-drawn technical diagram by Deke Slayton on an off-white 17.25 x 12 fabric sheet, titled and signed along the bottom in ink, "Tool Post Assembly, Scale 3/4″ = 1″, June 5, 1947, University of Minnesota, Drawing 2-3B, D. K. Slayton, W-3." After being discharged from the Army, Slayton studied aeronautical engineering at the University of Minnesota. Here, he neatly drafts the workings of a tool post for one of his classes. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in 1949, and accepted a job as an engineer with Boeing. In fine condition.
