In part: "I have received your communication…and must thank the members of the Division of the Sons of Temperance for the compliment they have paid me in its designation. The cause that their organization seeks to promote, meets with my warm approval. Judiciously prosecuted, it will contribute greatly, as it has heretofore done, to elevate the character of the rising generation & secure the prosperity of our beloved country." Matted and framed with an engraved portrait to an overall size of 11.5 x 18. Reverse bears a Goodspeed's Book Shop label. In fine condition, with intersecting folds and light uniform overall toning.
