ALS signed “Charles,” two pages, 8.5 x 11, November 5, 1961. Lindbergh writes to Dr. Laszlo and Louise Schwartz in White Plains, New York. In part: “I have come to Michigan to arrange for the funeral of my uncle. He died at Luzern, Switzerland, suddenly. He had not had a good year—three months in the hospital at Zurich. But he was looking and feeling better when I last saw him, in October; and a Swiss woman, in whom he and I both had great confidence, visited him nine days before he died and wrote that he seemed much improved and in good spirits…. I received a letter from the … semi-hospital at Luzern, but it is written in such bad English that it conveys very little information…. Uncle wanted to be buried in the little cemetery near Pine Lake where my mother is buried. When he and my mother were children, as you know, they often spent summers with their grandfather at his Pine Lake farm, and had very happy times together there. The services are to be held tomorrow at the Orchard Lake church where my great grandfather used to preach.” Accompanied by the original mailing envelope addressed in Lindbergh’s hand. Light mailing fold touching signature and a few mild wrinkles, otherwise fine, clean condition. The writing is dark and clearly penned throughout. LOA John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and R&R COA.
