DS, one page, 8.5 x 11, no date. Page seven, taken from a larger contract, signed in the center of the page in blue ink, “Marilyn Monroe,” who also signs “Harry Lipton,” her first manager. Monroe signs under the section reading “In the event the Actor is executing this agreement because a particular person is connected with the Agent, then the name of such person should be written in the space following. If the Actor is not so executing this agreement, then the Actor’s name of initials must be written in the space by the actor. This contract is not effective unless one of the foregoing sentences is complied with. (This space must be filled with either such name or with the name or initial of the Actor inserted in such space by the Actor.)” Although the document is undated, Lipton served as Monroe’s manager from 1946 to 1949, making this an early entertainment contract for Monroe.
