In part: “I can only view the gift of your book The Russian Land together with its very generous inscription to me as a high and sensitive phase of literary courtesy which I scarcely deserve. I know very little of Russia though I sympathize much and I only hope that some of my criticisms are not taken too unkindly. I am for the effort if with some modifications.
