An official Apollo 14 crew “Insurance” cover, 6.5 x 3.75, with a cachet honoring Apollo 14, signed “Edgar Mitchell” in blue ink. The covers were produced for the crew to sign in pre-flight quarantine, and then leave behind with their families as a form of insurance (hence the name) that could be sold should they fail to return. Apollo 14 Insurance Covers are identified by three aviator wings printed below the mission emblem, which appear only on these special Covers. The cover is loosely affixed to an explanatory sheet with two photos of Edgar Mitchell and and the Apollo 14 emblem printed at the top. In fine condition, with the ink notation “Official cover from Personal Collection” at the top border of the cover. R&R COA.
