Description

Chemist and inventor (1778-1829) best known for his discoveries of several alkali and alkaline earth metals, as well as contributions to the discoveries of the elemental nature of chlorine and iodine. ALS signed “H. Davy,” one page, 6.25 x 7.75, April 28, 1809. Handwritten letter to Thomas Reynolds, in part: "I am sorry that it was not in my power to profit by your kind invitation for Wednesday last. But if I thought you would be at home on Wednesday May 3 I should be most happy to be with you that day." Addressed on the integral leaf in Davy's hand. In very good to fine condition, with light soiling and a rusty paperclip impression, and a tear and seal-related paper loss to the integral address leaf.
