Description

English businessman (1862-1937) who served as chairman and managing director of the White Star Line. In 1912, he came to international attention as the highest-ranking White Star official to survive the sinking of the company's new flagship RMS Titanic, for which he was subject to severe criticism. Vintage fountain pen signature, "Yours sincerely, Bruce Ismay,” on an off-white 3.5 x 1 slip affixed to a slightly larger mount. Matted with an image of Ismay to an overall size of 8.25 x 11.75. In fine condition.
