American sculptor of the Beaux-Arts school (1863-1937) who was as successful and lauded in France as he was in the United States. He was also a highly accomplished painter and portraitist. ALS, two pages on two adjoining sheets, 5.5 x 8.5, October 10, 1893. Handwritten letter to Mr. de Lautrette, in part: "I have been searching for a drawing or rather a sketch…but have not succeeded in finding it. I shall look again today and shall send it to you. If you do not hear from me by the day after tomorrow it will mean that I cannot find the sketch and really have not the time…to make the slightest kind of drawing." In fine condition.
