Unissued NASA Distinguished Service Medal from the collection of Al Worden, featuring a 1.75″ diameter medal with emblem reading, "Distinguished Service, NASA," suspended from a navy-and-teal ribbon. The back is blank, not engraved with his name as the issued example is. Sealed in its original plastic and in fine condition.
The NASA Distinguished Service Medal is the highest award which may be bestowed by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration of the United States: it may be presented to any member of the federal government, including both military astronauts and civilian employees.
